Captioned “TROUBLE IN PARADISE” in a font pulled from the front cover of a Goosebumps book, Alice Bucknell’s print edition draws from her quasi-documentary art fair film High From Miami Beach (2019).

Showing the iconic Clevelander Club located on South Beach’s Art Deco-encrusted neon strip of Ocean Drive Boulevard, Bucknell’s edition is infused with contrast of colours, the hotel lit in lurid purple, whilst baby blues encourage revellers towards the bar, and coiling lines of amber snake their way around unfortunate palms.

In the foreground, carved medallions to Miami’s adopted son Gianni Versace float, leading the visitor into a world of hallucinogenic hedonism, tropical exoicism and colonial legacies.
